The key to caring for knitted accessories is minimizing deformation, preventing shrinkage, and maintaining color and softness. Because their loop structure is easily affected by external forces, extra care must be taken with washing, drying, and storage.
Washing: Gentle Cleaning, Avoid Damage
Hand washing is preferred; machine washing requires protection. It is recommended to hand wash with warm or cold water below 30℃, using a neutral detergent (such as baby shampoo or wool cleaner). Avoid using strong laundry detergents containing bleach. If machine washing is necessary, knitted hats, scarves, etc., must be placed in a laundry bag or pillowcase to prevent deformation caused by tumbling and friction.
Handle Gently, Do Not Rub or Wring
When washing, only gently press with your hands. Do not rub, brush, or wring vigorously to avoid damaging the fiber structure and loop shape. Cashmere is especially delicate and should be handled with extra care, rinsing thoroughly with clean water.
Tips for Color Fixation and Odor Removal: Adding a small amount of white vinegar (about 2% concentration) to water can help fix the color and remove wool odors; you can also wash with tea water, which helps maintain the color's brightness.
Drying: Lay flat to air dry in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight.
After washing, do not hang to dry, otherwise the weight of the fabric can cause stretching and deformation, especially for lightweight materials such as cashmere and knitted hats.
Squeeze out the water, wrap the wool in a dry towel to absorb excess moisture, and then lay it flat in a well-ventilated place to air dry in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading and fiber aging.
You can cover the surface with paper towels while drying to absorb residual moisture and prevent dust and sun damage.
